Missons Report: Autumn 2005
Countries Visited:
Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines
The trip was a real adventure! Loads of travelling and encountering different cultures within a short period of time. Kev Stuckey and myself shared in a number of different places with Canaan Fellowship, a network of Churches and ministries within Sri Lanka. The visit to Sister Prebha’s orphanage in the war torn district of Jaffna was really inspiring. Please pray for them, as in a recent letter, Prebha shares that, ’Jaffna is crawling with both military and rebels’.
We went from there to Bangalore, India and shared in some Churches there. We also got to hear Bernard Ankoma from Ghana speak during a visit to the AoG Bible College. Amazing testimony, though nearly four hours long!! We also got to speak in a village Church near Coimbatore, then various places in Kerala. Also visited the Light of Hope Mission and saw all the kids there.
After a flying visit to City Harvest Churches in Malaysia and Singapore, Kev returned to the UK and Richard Pedley and I went on to the Philippines. It was a really outstanding time and a number of folk were saved, healed and baptised in the Spirit. One notable healing was that of a young woman suffering from both dengue fever and typhoid. When we visited her, she was lying motionless on the bed and had been sent home from the hospital, having no money to pay for treatment. After prayer the room was really filled with a tremendous presence of God, nobody spoke for some time. We were later told that following the lady’s healing her sister-in-law came to Christ. Richard and I will be returning with his friend, Pete Gray, in April, for Pastor’s and Young Adult’s conferences.
Tragic News
We recently heard the tragic news that Pastor Charles, whose village Church we preached in near Coimbatore, India was martyred. He was killed by Hindu fundamentalists, unhappy about the tremendous impact he was making in the community. He leaves behind his wife and young son. Please pray for the Church and family at this time.
